Use the Windows Key + Space bar in order to swap between your keyboards.Tips and tricks on how to use your Japanese keyboard: You may also have to hit Alt + \` in the top left corner of your keyboard to swap it to enter in kana. You now have the Microsoft IME installed! You can swap from your current keyboard by pressing Windows Key + Space bar.You can also set your desktop to display in Japanese from this setting screen, but doing that will depend on how comfortable you are with having everything in Japanese. Make sure "Install language pack" is checked, and then hit Install.Search for Japanese, select it, and hit "Next.".Click on "Add a preferred language," there's a big plus sign next to it. Scroll down slightly until you see the "Preferred languages" heading."Edit language and Keyboard settings" should be the first thing to pop up, click on that. Go to your desktop settings and type in "language" into your search bar.For simplicity, we can look at the Microsoft IME for now and get another post going for Google IME in the future. There are two keyboard options, both of which are mainly preference-based: Google IME and Microsoft IME. This is a guide for the Microsoft IME, the phone keyboard guide will be coming soon (will update with a link to that when it's written). Note that for now, I'll be focusing on Windows 10 and an Android phone (as these are what I own and have experience with), but would like to expand this guide to encompass more than that in the future. Hopefully this post will help prevent that confusion^^ This is something I see causing confusion pretty often when people first start learning Japanese.
